This creative idea is submitted by Mr. Higgins, who always inspires us with his passionate and unique mechanical concepts. In the real world, closed-loop gravity and heat systems run into big limits due to the laws of physics and energy loss, but thinking through these unique designs is still a great way to challenge our engineering minds and start good technical discussions.
System Overview
Continuing the quest for new ideas to generate the power we will need for the new machinery we will need to adapt and/or survive the possible upcoming climate impact we will have to experience has identified many areas and technologies we need to address. What we can do with existing technology is one of those areas.
This presentation comes from looking at what we have, then taking some of this over here and some of that over there and stacking them together in a new way. This presentation will address the conceptual chain of physics that results from that effort. Any diagrams and text are referring to a function, not a design. The valid chain of physics, in common language, is the only consideration being offered.
We currently have technology to generate power through many and various machines. One group of those machines use gravity at some point in operation. There is technology for machines that use very little, and some that mainly use gravity as the input. The range of that tech is large in that respect.
The Challenge of Gravity-Based Systems
There is one thing that is common over the entire range for using gravity. To harvest energy from gravity there has to be, somewhere in the system, mass that loses altitude. Mass in motion going down. It is the only universally required natural phenomenon for the machines we can use to harvest energy from gravity for our use.
Trouble is that fist the mass has to be elevated before it can descend. It is that elevation of mass issue that costs the systems, the power to just operate, and prevents constant operation, and other “challenges” reducing output levels for us. It is a technology wide issue for any machine using gravity.
To address that issue, only, this discussion will provide a system that combines two natural phenomena to lift mass. What any of us can or will do with it is not addressed here. Sunshine and Gravity are the only inputs to this limited system. This self-contained closed system of totally “mechanical” and natural phenomena. No other external inputs or replenishments required. Sunshine and Gravity In, Mass at Altitude Out.
The Solar Gravity Lift System consists of two separate solid hardware assembles, and mechanical linkage arrangements to interface those two assemblies. The first hardware assembly is solar powered and is used to circulate water from a “bottom” tank to an elevated “top” tank. The second hardware assembly is operated by gravity and controls the rise and fall of a captive mass in a “tidal” tank. The movement of the captive mass then controls, by mechanical linkage, the “power mass” that is elevated as the output of the system.
Top and Bottom (TB) Assembly
The TB (top and bottom) Assembly uses current technology to heat water to, at the very least, cause an increase in evaporation and, at best, boil water so steam will rise. This heat is provided by solar power (with all of the solar power issues when the sun don’t shine) using a Fresnel Lens configuration.
Fresnel Lens is a technique of several specifically oriented lens to focus sunlight on one specific point. Like a magnifying glass focusing on one point of a piece of paper, and causing the paper to ignite. There is more to the configuration but it is known technology so doesn’t need to be explained further here.
The Fresnel Lens focus on a “heat element” made of the proper material to handle the heat energy. That heat element is contained in a tube structure, and is positioned so that the heat element is located shallow in water contained in the “circulation” tube of the TB Assembly.
Sunshine heats the heat element. The heat element heats the water around it in the circulation tube. That water evaporates or steams, turns to a gas state, and rises in the circulation tube. Then, due to the one-piece solid structure of the complete TB Assembly, the gas is condensed back to liquid and fills the top tank.
The top tank provides for the controlled release of the elevated water to flow down (gravity force) in to the tidal tank. The tidal tank does its’ thing and provides for the controlled release of the water back to the bottom tank. The water in the closed TP Assembly has circulated from bottom to top and back to the bottom. Temperature control considerations are a normal engineering issue and are handleable, and not conceptual physics for this discussion.

The volume of water to be circulated is determined by the volume needed to maintain continuous or pulsed operation, depending on the specific implementation desired, of the tidal tank when the sun doesn’t shine. The TB Assembly could include multiple circulation tubes including a Fresnel Lens and heat element individually for each tube to increase lifted water quantity for one Solar Gravity Lift System. The TB Assembly uses known technology.
This is a closed conservation of energy system for the TB Assembly. No solar energy entering the Solar Gravity Lift System is used to lift the power mass (the system output). All of the energy needed to lift the power mass is provided by the force of gravity. The Tidal Tank Assembly implements that function. The operation of the Tidal Tank Assembly is a closed conservation of energy system. Gravity in, Elevated Mass out.
Tidal Tank Assembly Mechanics
The tidal tank is just that. A stand-alone tank of water. It receives water from the top tank. This intake could be relatively quick if desired. It would be controllable through solely mechanical valves. Adding water to a tank causes the surface level of the water in the tank to rise. Anything, with appropriate buoyancy and displacement volume, floating on that surface will elevate with the rising surface.
Water is then controlled released from the tidal tank to the bottom tank. That release could happen at a desired speed. Think of a boat in the harbor rising and falling with the 12hr ocean tide. But the Tidal Tank operates at our operating speed. This is the operational functionality of the Tidal Tank. To rise and fall, and carry the floating Output Lift Assembly with the change in surface level tide cycle.
Depending on the total Power Mass desired for lift, there could be multiple Tidal Tank Assemblies, or just one bigger one, in one Solar Gravity Lift System. The two “controlled release” valves, one each on the top and tidal tanks, are controlled by the elevation of the water tripping a switch implemented by mechanical linkage not shown in this diagram. The Tidal Tank Assembly uses known technology.

Output Lift Assembly and System Conclusion
The lift capability of the tidal tank is totally dependent on the physics of buoyancy and displacement with respect to liquid, solid, and gas environments. No source of energy other than the energy harvested from sunshine, then stored by gravity in the form of elevated water, is required for this lift capability. Because gravity is the only force involved in floating on water. There are no system load issues, friction or resistance to operation, impacting the operation of the Tidal Tank.
The water will flow in and out of the tank, and raise and lower the surface level and the float, up to the limits of buoyancy and displacement of the float. It doesn’t make it harder for the tide to rise just because there is a float on it. There are conversion efficiencies and other resistance loads, but the float is not a pressure valve to the tide. The rise and fall are factors of the volume of water in the tank. Not the pressure from the float. The number of individual tidal tanks in one Soar Gravity Lift System determines greater output lift capacity.
The Output Lift Assembly is a mechanical system anchored in the float that links up to the Power Mass. With a mechanical interface linkage, the rise of the float causes the elevation of the Power Mass.
The function is represented here as a simple straight level concept. How that function is implemented would be specific to its’ desired use. We already know how to do this. For the circulation of water in and out of the tank, gravity is the force. For the Tidal Tank Assembly: Gravity in, Elevated Mass out.
The Solar Gravity Lift System assembles individual stand-alone sub-assemblies in a specific order to create a chain of physics that only requires sunshine and gravity, and results in lifting a desired mass to a desired elevation, for external use. The SGLS is a solar-powered gravitational energy-storage and mass-elevation system.
It converts solar energy into gravitational potential energy of a payload, with the elevated water and tidal tank acting as intermediate stages. That payload mass can be used in uncounted ways. No pollution. Renewable. And applicable to a large range of current technology machines. The Solar Gravity Lift System works with Nature, with known technology, for us. It represents a valid chain of conceptual physics. This presentation provides for proof of concept. Sunshine and Gravity in, Mass at altitude out.
Another configuration idea for nature only elevation of mass: reconfigure the Tidal Pump used in The Higgins Engine reset sub-assembly to replaces the Fresnel Lens heat energy lift functionality used in the Solar Gravity Lift System. No sunshine required, and a constant quantity of water being constantly elevated to the top tank. This would mean that the Solar Gravity Lift System is now just a Gravity Lift System. Gravity in, Mass at altitude out.
Anyone else got any “taking some of this over here and some of that over there and stacking them together in a new way” ideas using current technology (and maybe something new as well)?
