Induction Heater Inductor and Resonant Frequency Calculator

This calculator we made will take few things from us first. We have to put the supply frequency in Hz and also we have to give the tank capacitor value in microfarads or µF.

Then after we give these two things, that calculator will calculate and show the correct tank inductor value in microhenry or µH, which we need for making the LC resonance.

But that is not all, because if we already know both the capacitance and inductance values then we can also use this same calculator for finding the exact resonant frequency in Hertz so that we can design the circuit more accurately and correctly.

Formula Used:

L = 1 / (4 * π² * f² * C)
f = 1 / (2 * π * √(L * C))
(Where C in Farads, L in Henrys, f in Hz)

So now first we have this formula which is used for calculating the inductor value, that is:

L = 1 / (4 * π² * f² * C)

Here we are putting the value of frequency in Hertz (Hz) as f and the value of capacitor in Farads as C. Then we do square of the frequency and multiply that with the capacitor value and again multiply with 4 times pi square. Then we take 1 and divide by that whole thing. So finally we get the inductor value in Henrys, which we write as L.

Then we have the second formula which is for calculating the resonant frequency if we already know the inductor and capacitor values. That one is:

f = 1 / (2 * π * √(L * C))

Now in this one, we multiply L (inductance in Henrys) with C (capacitance in Farads) and then we take square root of that. After that we multiply with 2 times π. Then we take 1 and divide by that whole thing. That will give us the resonant frequency f in Hertz.

So these formulas are the main thing we need for any LC tank calculation, whether we want to find inductor or capacitor or frequency. But always remember that C must be in Farads and L in Henrys while using these formulas, not in µF or µH otherwise the result will go wrong.
