Earth faults with an inverter.
I have a mobile measuring device which has a 12 V battery feeding into a inverter. The output is 240 v ac, which in turn feeds a 4 way extension lead. As anyone could plug in a faulty piece of equipment, should the inverter be earthed, and also the output voltage have an earth connection. I understand it has overload & short protection, but what about earth problems.
Although the actual functioning of the whole system is unclear to me, I am assuming that your worry is regarding an accidental short circuit that may occur across one of the inverter mains leads and the body of the faulty equipment.
Well in that case an earthing would be useful as that would safeguard the user from a possible lethal electric shock.
